
GPC (Global Philips Cartner)
- GPC, a joint venture with OWL as the majority partner, has managed the U. S. Navy's Emergency Ship Salvage Material (ESSM) operations continually since 1989. GPC operates and maintains ESSM bases in Williamsburg, Virginia; and Port Hueneme, California; as well as ESSM storage facilities in Pearl Harbor, Hawaii; Anchorage, Alaska; Sasebo, Japan; Livorno, Italy; Singapore; and Bahrain.
- GPC personnel provide rapid response in the aftermath of emergencies such as commercial airline crashes and major oil spills in U. S. waters and any kind of naval deploy. Under this contract GPC has provided manpower, equipment and technical support during search-and-rescue and recovery efforts following the crashes of TWA Flight 800, Egypt Air Flight 990 and Alaska Air Flight 261. GPC staff also assisted in recovery and salvage efforts following the sinking of the Japanese vessel Ehime Maru. GPC coordinated massive cleanup efforts following the Exxon Valdez oil spill and monitored the Ehime Maru for possible oil and fuel leaks.
